Three candidates remain in the search for the next football coach at Northern Michigan. On Friday, it was Jason Woodman's chance to speak with the community, and Woodman has impressive credentials. He's currently the head coach at Fairmont State University, which went 10-1 in the regular season and Woodman has learned from some of the best. He's worked under Bobby Bowden, Jimbo Fisher, Nick Saban, and Les Miles, and mentioned Bowden, Fisher, and Mmiles as his top three references. Woodman shared with Local 3 why the NMU job is so appealing.

"First, it's such a good conference. It's one of the premiere conferences in the country and if you look back over history, so many national champions in the past have come from this conference. I think that's one of the things that sticks out immediately," Woodman said about the prospect of coaching in the GLIAC.

"The other is to take on a new challenge for us, for me, for our staff. We've been able to do some things where we're at now that no one thought we could do, and I think that it's an opportunity for us to continue to advance in our career and reinstall a program with some tradition and some pride that means a lot to a lot of people," added Woodman.

Ferris State Co-Defensive Coordinator Kyle Nystrom will be in Marquette on Monday to interview for the position.
