The team will forfeit the remaining seven games of its schedule due to a low number of healthy players.
LEELANAU COUNTY -- Suttons Bay athletic director Doug Periard confirmed with 7&4 News Wednesday night that the Norsemen varsity football program is canceling the rest of its season due to low numbers.

The team had announced after last Thursday's loss to Elk Rapids that it would be forfeiting the upcoming game on September 9th against Frankfort. Now team officials believe the best decision for the health of the team is to forfeit the rest of the 2016 schedule. As of Wednesday night the team only had 11 players healthy enough to suit up for varsity.

The JV season will go on as normal with some of the varsity players joining that group.
Periard says he's optimistic about the future for Suttons Bay football with a strong middle school program right now. He said unfortunately this year's junior class did not give them enough depth to compete.
