Adrian Peterson almost missed Lions game because he swallowed his chewing tobacco

Adrian Peterson was simply doing what a baseball player in 1979 or a frat boy wearing Croakies and Vineyard Vines would do: He put in some chew to take a ride to flavor country. While he and his Minnesota Vikings teammates were taking a flight to their game in Detroit, Peterson evidently craved a crisp, nauseating, disgusting buzz, oh, and also grossing out the dude next to him. You know, it was nothing out of the ordinary for the league’s best running back in 2015 — needing a nicotine fix at 35,000 feet.
Except there was one small problem, as Fox reported prior to Sunday’s game. Chris Myers, who was calling the game, said the flight was bumpy and when the plane descended, Peterson accidentally swallowed his chew, which is pretty much the only thing grosser than merely putting in a lipper. He apparently vomited upon descent and was quickly downgraded from “probable” to “questionable,” though no one knew why at the time.
Chris Myers: “Peterson: a bit of a scare flying in from Minneapolis. The plane — it was a bumpy ride — dropped about 800 or 900 feet, it was estimated. He had chew in his mouth, swallowed it, causing him to vomit once he arrived here in Detroit.”
Peterson ended up playing and was used on seven of the team’s first 11 plays. His lip appeared to have no bulge.
The running back denied the report.
