A TRIBUTE TO THE 26TH STATE
"If you seek a pleasant peninsula,
look about you."
-State Motto
We had to fight a war against Ohio to gain our statehood which was wrongfully denied for two years.

We lost the war for Toledo, but we gained the natural riches of the Upper Peninsula instead.

President Lincoln declared "Thank God for Michigan," as we helped turn the tide in the Civil War.

In the early 1900's we invented the American Middle Class as we put the World on Wheels.

In WWII, we were the Arsenal of Democracy.

We gave you the Motown Sound, the industrial rock of  MC5, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, and Iggy Popp, and the hip hop of Eminem and Kid Rock.

The unmistakable profile of our great state is visible from space.

We are the only state entirely in the Great Lakes basin which contains 20% of the earth's fresh water.

We have a heroic past, a challenged present, and a boundless future.

We are the State of Michigan and you're welcome America.
