Packers' 2017 opponents determined
With the 2016 season now in the books, the Packers know each of their 16 regular-season opponents next year.
With the 2016 regular season finally in the books, each NFL team now knows the identity of all its opponents for next season.
Divisional assignments determine most of each schedule. This year, the Green Bay Packers' division faces off against the NFC South and AFC North. All but two of the Packers' other games take place within their division.
As winners of the NFC North, the Packers play a so-called "first-place schedule." That distinction only affects two of their 16 games, with those matchups coming against the division winners of the two NFC divisions not otherwise scheduled to play the NFC North -- the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys. The Packers played both of those teams in 2016 as well.
On paper, the Packers' 2017 schedule appears more difficult than their slate from 2016. They face off against six teams with winning records including two clashes with the Detroit Lions. Green Bay also has to travel to Dallas for their matchup with the Cowboys, something they did not have to do this season.
However, records from one season often do not transfer to another. Take the schedule the Packers just completed, which ranked as the easiest in the NFL based on the previous year's records but finished as one of the harder assignments across the league. Likewise, the perception of Green Bay's 2017 schedule should change over the next 12 months.
