NFL GM Believes '30 to 40 Percent' of 2015 Draft Class Smoke Marijuana Regularly

Although some states have legalized the use of marijuana, it is still against the National Football League's rules for players to smoke pot.

 

The threat of suspension and/or fines is enough to make some players think twice about using marijuana, but there are some who still choose to partake.

It seems like every year a big-time prospect is caught using, and this year is no different. Former Nebraska star Randy Gregory received a lot of criticism when he failed a drug test at the NFL combine, and former Missouri pass-rusher Shane Ray was recently cited for possession.
However, these two are supposedly far from the only ones who smoke pot regularly.

Here's what one NFL general manager told Bleacher Report's Mike Freeman about the use of marijuana in this year's draft class:

GM to me: "My estimate is 30 to 40 percent of players in this draft class use marijuana regularly. That's right in line with our league."

More from GM: "Publicly teams act shocked, disappointed about marijuana. Privately we know a lot of guys smoke and we're far from shocked." 

 

Last from GM: "In five years, maybe less, we'll have a league that allows smoking pot. It's best recourse. What we're doing now is stupid."
