Four police officers and pepper spray were required to subdue a man who was disruptive, resisted arrest and struck a female usher Saturday at the Penn State-Michigan game, police said.
Penn State police said that the man, who wore a Michigan jersey, became "so disruptive and physical" that police "ultimately resorted to pepper spray to subdue him." A photographer caught the incident, which occurred in Beaver Stadium's NL section and has been discussed on various websites.

Penn State Police Chief Tyrone Parham said that nearby spectators asked for the man, who was not identified, to be removed from the game. When a female usher tried to eject him, the man allegedly struck her, police said.
Four officers — two each from Penn State and State College — responded, but the man continued "spewing expletives" and resisted arrest, police said. Parham said that the decision to use pepper spray was a "safety issue."
"Alcohol was most definitely a factor in that situation," Parham said in a statement issued by Penn State.
Parham called the volume of police calls typical for a night football game with a crowd of that size at Penn State. University police issued a 33-page log Sunday that included nearly 200 incident reports, most involving alcohol.
"As we anticipated, alcohol was one of the bigger challenges on the day," Parham said. "We had a number of citations for underage drinking, urinating in public, and one DUI in one of the parking lots.
